Whereas most serving in the Second World War accepted the possibility of death, for those in Bomber Command it was a probability. More than one in ten of all Australians who died in or because of the war were with Bomber Command.
During the Second World War, some 10,000 Royal Australian Air Force aircrew served with the Royal Air Force Bomber Command. A crewmember’s first tour consisted of 30 missions.
