The exceptional Afghanistan – Desert Airlift Limited Edition Medallion, order now. The Royal Australian Air Force’s heavy-lifting Hercules C-130 transport aircraft deployed to Afghanistan in January 2002. Initially, in support of the Special Forces Task Force, the C-130’s short dirt runway capability and skilled pilots provided air logistic support for Australian and International Security Assistance Forces across the Middle East Area of Operation and throughout Afghanistan. Between 2002 and 2013 these versatile aircraft lifted more than 43,000 tons of cargo and 220,000 personnel. Operating under constant threat of enemy attack, the aircraft were often protected on approach and departure by ground forces and the fire support of Bushmaster Protected Mobility Vehicles.

This Limited Edition Medallion captures the C-130J taking off under cover of a Bushmaster PMV in Afghanistan. The medallion is minted in solid brass alloy with a highly polished silver finish. The reverse features the Australian flag over the rugged Afghan mountains with the word Afghanistan reproduced in English and Arabic script.

The medallion is enclosed in a sturdy clear protector and set in a quality leatherette case. Only 500 individual medallions are available, and each comes with a numbered certificate of authenticity
